For the lives ahead.
We are building an investment institution around science and technology that can make a lasting difference to the way we live. Our first focus is longevity and regenerative medicine. Over time, we hope to bring the same discipline to other systems on which our lives depend.
Important problems rarely stay within one discipline.
Our health depends on biology, but also on the tools used to study it, the energy and infrastructure needed to deliver care, and the systems that support everyday life. The same is true of food, industry and climate.
These connections interest us because progress in one field can make entirely new work possible in another. Each opportunity still deserves to be judged on its own evidence and economics.
Inspired by Wytham Woods. Wytham Lane is not affiliated with the University of Oxford.
Some things only time can reveal.
Wytham Lane takes its name from the woods near Oxford, where scientists have returned to the same landscape over decades to study how living systems change. That work depends on careful observation and the willingness to revise what you thought you knew.
It is a useful way to think about investing in difficult science, too.
Read our philosophyWe begin with biology.
Our starting question is straightforward: can science help people remain healthy and independent for more of their lives? We are focused on understanding biological decline, restoring function, and the technologies required to move useful discoveries beyond the laboratory.
Prevent avoidable decline. Better measurement, diagnostics, imaging and evidence-based preventive care.
Judged by whether a measurement changes a decision, and then an outcome.Therapies that address damage, cellular dysfunction and the body’s mechanisms of repair.
Judged by a defined mechanism and a measurable clinical endpoint.Stem cells, cell and gene therapies, tissue engineering, organ preservation and biomanufacturing.
Judged by safety, durability, delivery and whether it can be made consistently. The evidence and infrastructure between science and patients: clinical validation, patient data, manufacturing and responsible deployment.
Explore Human LifeConviction should survive contact with evidence.
A promising mechanism is a starting point. We want to know what has been shown, what would change our mind, which experiment matters next, who is capable of building the company, and whether the price and capital required make sense. Important science and a sound investment do not always arrive together.

Our first frontier is not our last.
We expect many of the important advances ahead to come from work across biology, engineering, computation and the physical world. Wytham Lane is designed with room to expand into adjacent and eventually distinct fields. We will do that only where we have the people, evidence and capital to do the work properly.
Human Capability
Recovery, resilience and performance, from tissue repair to the ability to withstand physiological stress.

Computing, robotics, materials and manufacturing that make scientific progress practical.
Explore Enabling Intelligence & IndustryCapital has to be matched to the work.
The needs of a discovery-stage therapeutic company are different from those of a diagnostics business or a capital-intensive infrastructure project. Our intention is to develop an institution that can understand those differences, invest with discipline and, where we can genuinely add value, help important technologies find a practical route into use.

A scientific beginning. An investment discipline.
Wytham Lane was founded by Dr. Faizzan Syed Ahmad. His work has moved from stem-cell and cardiovascular research into biotech equity research, venture investing and company building. That experience informs the firm’s first focus: understanding the science, determining what must be proved, and financing the route between discovery and practical use.
I’m interested in useful science, the judgment to recognise its limitations, and the people who can take it forward. From the founder’s noteAbout Wytham Lane

The work begins long before the breakthrough.
We welcome thoughtful conversations with scientists, founders and institutional partners who are working on problems that deserve a longer view.
